Think you know grab bars? Prove it.

for installers Oct 21, 2026

Here's a quick one. Your client weighs over how much before anchors alone are off the table?

If you answered without hesitating, good. Now, do you know why that number?

We pulled eight questions like that one straight from the GBIAA certification course and put them on the website. Anchors, load ratings, wall assessment, fiberglass surrounds, fold-down bars, and the ADA conversation every installer eventually has with a homeowner.

The rules

Eight questions. You get the reasoning behind every answer as you go, so even the ones you miss teach you something. At the end you get a score and a straight read on where you stand.

Nobody gets a grade. Eight for eight means you know your stuff. Anything less means you just found the exact spots where the course can help.

Why I'm confident you'll miss at least one

There has never been a professional certification standard for who installs grab bars. Every installer I've met learned this trade the same way: on the job, from whoever trained them, and from whatever the last wall taught them. That builds real skill. It also leaves gaps, and the gaps are never where you'd expect.

One of them, in particular, trips up installers who've been doing this for years. I'll leave it at that.

What happens after

Score well or score badly, you'll see an option to unlock Module 1 of the certification course, free. It's short videos, no commitment, and it's the same first module every certified installer starts with.

But that's after. Right now I'm just asking you to take the quiz. Then come tell me your score in the GBIAA Facebook group, because I want to see who goes eight for eight.
