After a knee surgery that did not go the way it was supposed to, Paul Knox spent his recovery facing the same obstacles his clients face now: a standard tub wall that was suddenly too high to step over, and nothing solid to hold onto. So he installed his own grab bars.
He had the skills long before he had the reason. Paul has worked in the trades since 1995, across framing, roofing, siding, plumbing rough-in, and finish work, including years as a Lowe's subcontractor running roofing and siding projects at more than 100 stores.
That background is why he reads the wall before he picks the bar. When he assesses a bathroom for a tub-to-shower conversion, or an entry for a ramp, he is looking at wall construction, stud spacing, plumbing layout, and where the load goes.
His mother and sister were both nurses, and he grew up watching what care for another person looks like. In 2024 he started NextStep Bath Solutions to bring that standard into the homes he works in.
